I’ve been a speech-language pathologist for over 20 years, and if I’m honest, the reason I’m still here has very little to do with worksheets, data sheets, or checklists.

It has everything to do with connection.

I am endlessly inspired by the children and families I work with— especially neurodivergent children who communicate in beautifully unique ways. Over the years, I’ve learned that real progress doesn’t come from compliance. It comes from safety, trust, and being truly seen.

Some of the most meaningful moments in my career have been quiet ones: a child meeting my eyes for the first time, a shared laugh over a silly sound, a parent exhaling because they finally feel understood. These moments don’t always show up on progress reports, but they are the foundation of everything that does.

I believe communication is not something we “fix.” It’s something we build together — through relationships, curiosity, and honoring each child exactly as they are.

This work is personal for me. It’s about slowing down, observing, waiting, and listening. It’s about creating spaces where children feel safe to show us who they are — not who we think they should be.

That’s why I do this work.

And it’s why I’ll keep showing up every day.
